Victorian Electricity Generators PTW Committee to form
The inaugural meeting of the proposed Victorian Electricity Generators Permit to Work (PTW) Committee will be held in the Latrobe Valley.
The event will by co-sponsored by Sage Technology and Loy Yang Power at the PowerWorks Visitor Centre in Morwell on Friday, October 14, 2005.
Representatives from all of the state’s electricity generating companies have been invited to participate in the committee which is to be modeled on the Queensland equivalent which has been operating successfully for several years.
Chairman of the Queensland Electricity Generators PTW Committee, Michael Barry, and founding member, Doug Hogan, have accepted an invitation to attend the inaugural Victorian meeting.
Sage Technology Product Director, Peter Kingwill, said there were many benefits in establishing the local committee, including:
- Forum to share permit/isolation issues and ideas;
- Develop common interpretations of regulations and standards;
- Improved compliance with regulations and standards;
- Remain abreast of new regulations, standards and trends;
- Advocacy to government, legislators and regulators; and
- Potential creation of a state-based permit process code of practice to facilitate efficiencies of shared contract resources.
